Games / Arthur Episode Survival Game: SEASON 1
« on: September 06, 2013, 05:43:39 pm »
I thought it would be fun to decide our collective favorite (and least favorite) Arthur episodes by playing a survival game with each season. Here's how it will work...

Since Season 1 had a lot of them, there will be two divisions. The first will have the first half, or 30 episodes/segments/stories (whatever you prefer to call them), of the season. Each one starts with a score of 5. For each turn, someone must add 1 to one episode's score and subtract 1 to that of another episode. If you like, you can also explain why you like or dislike these episodes. You can take as many turns as you like under the condition that you don't do so consecutively, meaning that you must want until another member takes a turn before you go again.

When an episode reaches 0, it's out of the game. When 5 episodes are left, they will be pushed aside and considered "finalists" and we will move on to the next division of the next 30 episodes, and the process repeats. Then we will do the same with the 10 total finalist episodes, starting with the scores they had as soon as their division reached 5 remaining episodes (This will be much cleaner than having a lengthy list of 60 episodes at once). The winner will be declared the Season 1 Forum Favorite.

General Discussion / Your Local PBS Kids Schedules
« on: June 24, 2013, 03:52:34 pm »
What does the current schedule of kids' programming for your local PBS station(s) look like? I'm mainly curious about this subject as I have read that some PBS stations independently air old shows like Mister Rogers and Wishbone, though the oldest ended show I still get is Clifford. Series Discussion / Favorite Incidental Music
« on: April 09, 2013, 11:43:09 pm »
I'm sure a lot of longtime Arthur viewers have noticed how often the show uses the same incidental music cues throughout the episodes, with many of the classic ones still being used today. What are some of your favorite ones?

One that always makes me laugh is the sting that always plays when someone is shocked or unsettled (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8M6rrbtHXQ#t=11m10s). It always plays in my head whenever I have any "OMG!" or "WHAT?!" moments.

Though it's not used much, I also like that twangy guitar cue that was sometimes used around Season 12 or so (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFVuuHVE1lU#t=0m42s).
