Title: My Five Arthur 11-Minute Episode Screenplays
Post by: ralfsmouse on May 14, 2013, 12:31:52 am
Back in January, I wrote a FanFiction for Arthur in the format of an actual screenplay. I posted it on FanFiction.net, where it got several reviews and hundreds of views, despite almost all of the FanFiction in the section being obscene and having terrible grammar and writing techniques. Due to the feedback, I wrote four more, which were also received very positively.

All of them are in screenplay format, with one of them also having a normally written version of the same story. I tried to make them 11 minutes just like an episode, but I got carried away in most of them. Each one is in the range of 4500-6500 words.

These are the screenplays that I have written so far:

Home Alone!: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9005028/1/Home-Alone
This is my personal favorite episode. It is about Jane and David's babysitter suddenly canceling on them on a night where they must go to a very important meeting. They eventually have to leave Arthur in charge of DW and Kate for a night, much to DW's resentment. DW tries to make Arthur out to be a terrible person. but eventually realizes that he's not so bad as a babysitter.

Arthur's Tonsils: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9045857/1/Arthur-s-Tonsils
This is by far my most popular episode. I didn't initially want to write it, but a fan of mine pushed me into writing it. I'm glad I did, as it came out as a very well done episode about Arthur getting many tonsil infections during a year, so many that doctors recommend that his tonsils are removed. I tried to not focus on the surgery portion, as that had already been done in "Operation: DW," but more on the recovery from the surgery. DW's assistance is also a bit more helpful now than when Arthur had the chicken pox.

The Broken Bone: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8939152/1/The-Broken-Bone
My first episode. This episode, as the title implies, is about Arthur breaking his arm due to him not paying attention during a hockey tryout. He tries, with some difficulty, to adjust to life as a person with a broken arm. He realizes that everyday activities will become chores, and that things will take quite a while to do. Meanwhile, DW thinks that her having to get a shot is more important than Arthur's arm.

Hard At Work: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/9182421/1/Hard-At-Work
My Most recent episode, also the one that connects most with my personal life. Arthur and Buster both want to buy a new video game system coming out (The Satellite), but it costs 300 dollars. Jane and David, as usual, are not going to give Arthur any money, nor will Bitzi give money to Buster. They both stumble upon the opportunity to get a job with Mrs. MacGrady, as she is short on staff. They both get jobs, but they seem to be the wrong fit for them, and they have some trouble adapting.

The Writing Contest: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8973408/1/The-Writing-Contest
A local flight school at the airport in town is offering a contest open to students in Elwood City, the grand prize being an aerobatic ride in an airplane. Buster becomes paranoid that Arthur is stealing his ideas, eventually escalating to the point where he breaks off his friendship with Arthur. They eventually make up, but not before Buster learns his lesson.

Please let me know what you think of these episodes, I'll likely be writing more.

I read these a couple of months ago, and they're all really good, staying true to characters and series format. LOL I'm already imagining Earwig reading these and offering you to be a writer for the show ;)

Hmm, anybody want to send Earwig a PM?;)
