Crew members that appear in the series
« on: January 23, 2013, 08:58:35 pm »
I would like to start a new topic and that is crew members or names of crew that appear in the series. I will start with this character from the show when the kids go to circus school at Boudnikov's circus. The goat character is a caricature of Igor Boudnikov the supervisor of character design in the series for a number or seasons around seasons 10 to 15.  I think the show with the circus is 117B  Francine's Big Top Trouble. Here is a link to the show.

IIRC, the episode where Sue Ellen moves to Elwood City, the moving truck outside their house reads "Fallon and Sons Moving Company", or something like that.

One of the Mighty Mountain Elementary School kids has Scarborough as his last name. In reference to Ken Scarborough who is one of the writers for Arthur.

A recurring crew name is the name Enguan. Enguan Xu was the first coordinator on the series and was in the position for the first 3 or 4 seasons and then moved on to another job at Cinar. The Chinese restaurant is named Enguan's and appears in a number of shows including Big Brother Binky and the show about peanut allergy.  There is also a great inside gag in one of the shows where Binky has a pet stick or root and he makes a comment about his stick Iggy that he's going to name Enguan. Iggy was actually the nickname of Enguan. The line  was put into the show at the last minute as a surprise for her. She was quite surpised when she saw it.

Peter Hirsch the story editor on Arthur actually appears as himself in a speaking part in a  live action segment of Postcards from Buster New York. There is a scene of Buster going to find his car and it's missing. Peter Hirsch who lives in New York plays a guy on the street who tells Buster not to park his car because it is a tow zone. Peter is the guy with the beard if you ever find the scene.

That was from Postcard From Buster. The episode of Arthur not the actual show. Wow I really didn't notice it was him at first.

Carol Greenwald the producer at WGBH that started the series off in the first place by making a deal with Marc Brown and then Cinar to make the series is caricatured in one show The Last of Mary Moo Cow. The character is a producer at the tv studio that Mary Moo Cow is made. I am attaching an image though I'm not sure she would like that plaid jacket much these days.

PS the actress that does Mary Moo cow is a stand up comic in Montreal.
That's off topic but I should see if I can find a recording of Heidi. She's very funny and she sounds a lot like Mary Moo Cow when we meet the real person in the show The Last of Mary Moo Cow.

That's right. It's on the Arthur show of PFB. That show was the pilot for the PFB show. Yeah that's Peter looking like a real street hood. :)

IIRC, the episode where Sue Ellen moves to Elwood City, the moving truck outside their house reads "Fallon and Sons Moving Company", or something like that.

That's right. That was a nod from the design department at Cinar that just loved Joe's insane scripts. For some reason there is also a moving van with the word TOLON written on it. Tolon of course is Marc Brown's son. Tolon worked in Cinar  in Montreal for a summer one year on Marc's dime in the layout department.

In the current season of production I see that the truck now is once again with Fallon on the side even though Joe has not worked on the show for much too long now. I don't think Joe has a son by the way.

Good to hear the van is still around.

I was watching "Finders Key-pers" today, and in Arthur's imagine spot of the key they found being the Key to the City, the Mayor's name is Mayor Hirsch, which I assume is another nod to Peter.

I've also been wondering, some people have pointed out from "D.W.'s Deer Friend", when D.W. imagines how sad Walter would be separated from his family, he mentions a sister named Sheilarae, which some believe to be a nod to Sheilarae Carpentier Lau... can this be confirmed?
