Arthur's VA's

What are your opinions on each of Arthur's voice actors throughout the series?

Here's a refresher.

Michael Yarmush (seasons 1-5)
Justin Bradley (season 6 before the redub)
Mark Rendall (seasons 7-8, as well as season 6 redubs)
Cameron Ansell (seasons 9-11)
Dallas Jokic (seasons 12-15)
Drew Adkins (seasons 16-present)
Carr Thompson (Arthur's Missing Pal)

I have a feeling there will be a lot of criticism of Cameron and Dallas...LOTS of people seem to think they were way too high for the Arthur they've known since the beginning. I actually kind of really liked Mark's voice for Arthur...not too deep, not too high, and even though there's that slight difference between him and Michael that I just can't help but notice (a difference that I actually happen to like for some reason), he seems like a worthy successor to me.
I can't really predict the reaction to the current voice actor.
Justin Bradley, as you may all know, was criticized for not having the right vocal range, making him sound whiny whenever Arthur got upset. I personally couldn't tell the difference between his voice and Michael's voice when it started to deepen, I thought they were both Justin Bradley :/
Carr...I doubt many people will have much of a reaction to him, but if you want to listen again, there are clips of AMP all over YouTube.

Anyway, enough babbling on my part, post away!

I pretty much agree with you on all counts LB.

I haven't heard Justin Bradley's Arthur, because again, my PBS never even aired Season 6 until PBS's kids programming adopted that whole "PBS Kids GO" format, which began in 2005 or so, so by then, the Mark Rendall dubs were in place.

The second half of Season 12, Arthur's voice kind of went back and forth between sounding closer to Mark's Arthur, while still sounding too high-pitched and more like D.W. at times.

So far, Drew is the better Arthur we've had in a long time.

These are my opinions:

Michael Yarmush: I thought that Michael was the best voice actor for Arthur, but I am likely biased because he was the first voice actor for him. At the end (Seasons four and five), I thought that his voice was a bit deep for the role.

Justin Bradley: I am in the minority, but I didn't mind Justin's voice acting, although I definitely didn't think that it was better the Michael's. It doesn't sound too different from the season five voice acting, but if I watch a season 10 or so episode and then watch a season six episode, I am always shocked at how deep Justin's Arthur is, it does make Arthur sound a lot older.

Mark Rendall: Mark sounds very similar to Michael in seasons two and three in my opinion, and his redubs were decent. However, sometimes I don't like the redubs because he doesn't say some lines in the same tone, which sometimes affects the way I interpret them.

Cameron Ansell: I always though that Cameron's voice was quite a bit too high.

Dallas Jokic: Dallas' voice was OK, not as good as Mark, but just OK.

Drew Adkins: Ehh, the pitch is just a little on the high side, but his delivery of the lines is actually pretty good.

Carr Thompson: I liked Carr, I think that he should be a voice actor for Arthur in the main series.

My favorite voice actor for Arthur was Mark Rendall.Second was Michael Yarmush, third Drew Adkins, fourth Dallas Jokic, and fifth Cameron Ansell.I've never heard Justin Bradley as Arthur,so I wouldn't know what it sounded like, but I've heard he was the most hated of the Arthur voice actors.

Actually, I believe all the original S6 episodes are on YouTube, and the only redubs on there right now are "Sue Ellen Gets Her Goose Cooked" and "Best of the Nest". Netflix had the redubs until recently when all the Arthur episodes they had available before S13 were removed.

Anyway, this is my personal ranking of Arthur's voice actors (not counting Carr), from favorite to least favorite:

Michael Yarmush (1-5)
Mark Rendall (6 redub, 7-8)
Dallas Jokic (12-15)
Justin Bradley (6 original)
Drew Adkins (16-)
Cameron Ansell (9-11)

To me, Cameron Ansell sounded like he had a cold half the time, especially whenever he said Buster's name. I can't stand hearing him repeatedly say "Hey, Buster, let's play some ball." in "Flaw and Order".

I actually didn't know Arthur's voice in S5 was still Yarmush until recently. Not too much of a difference in pitch between that voice and Bradley, though Bradley always sounded bored and wasn't nearly as good an actor as the others, and his voice was sometimes prone to cracking (such as when he says "I don't know what happened" at the beginning of "Citizen Frensky"). I never really minded the deeper voice Arthur had, though I much prefer the redubbed S6 episodes to the originals. When they were on Netflix, I'd compare them to the originals on YT and Rendall delivered every line better than Bradley.

It's nice that Yarmush still works on the show as Slink, and his voice has been kept in the opening. And even after he stopped voicing Arthur, sometimes audio samples from him like his grunts, laughs, and sighs, were still recycled, though not anymore, I don't think, and sadly, the famous "Arthur gasp" used in many of Yarmush's episodes was never re-used after S5. :( I think they should have kept using it because it sounds that hilarious.

After thinking about it a bit more, here are my new opinions:
Michael Yarmush:His voice in season 1 was a bit higher than it was later on,but good nonetheless. His voice in seasons 2-4 was steady and consistent, and in season 5,he sounded around 14 or so,not at all like he did the last 4 seasons.(It's not as bad in the Christmas special, though)
Mark Rendall:He sounded more like season 1 Arthur in seasons 6-7,and a bit more deeper in season 8-kinda like seasons 2-4 voice.
Drew Adkins:I'm sorry, but he sounds like a little girl.Should've tried out for D.W.,Drew.
