The Introduction Thread
« on: September 24, 2012, 08:13:44 am »
We have people coming from the wiki and people coming from other places, so maybe it would be nice if we all introduce ourselves.

For my introduction, I think basically everyone here already knows me, some know me as Muppetfan, others know me as Hubert. I went with using the name "Muppetfan" just because that is the name that is more tagged to my Arthur fandom, as more Arthur fans know me as that. Other than being creator and administrator of this forum and blog, I'm also an administrator at Arthur Wiki and a diehard Arthur fan who knows way too much about the series. As many of you know, I'm also a diehard Muppet fan, hence the username.

The only people who would know me are the MC people since I am not a member of the wiki.

The people who DO know me know me as Sarge or Sgt Floyd, hence the Sergeant in my username. I am obviously a huge Slink fan :P

Yay for lackluster introductions!
Buster: "Hey fresh dudes, mind if we chill your crib?"
Slink: "WHAT?!?"
Buster: "Me and my homefry here wanna be in your possum, I mean, posse!"
Toby: "What's he trying to say?"

You know, I've noticed that the community here seems to be a little more active lately, but not everybody has really taken the time to introduce themselves, other than, "Yeah, you guys know me from such-and-such place, that's me." so I figured this thread could be bumped to help us get to know each other just a little bit better, since we're posting a little more these days.

So anyway, like our admin Hubert, and Sarge previously mentioned, I too came here from the Muppet Central Forum (where I found out about this place), and I still plan to actually make myself a Snowth Woogle av sometime, but when I get myself a new version of Fireworks to install on my computer.

In real life, I'm a struggling producer and puppeteer, in fact, back in the day, I interned at my local PBS, and when we used to do those pledge drives in the afternoon for the children's programming, I'd make sure ARTHUR was one of the shows I especially promoted (next to SESAME STREET, since the pledge drive itself was always refered to as "The Friends of SESAME STREET Club").

Some of my other interests include classic television (BEWITCHED, I DREAM OF JEANNIE, GREEN ACRES, M*A*S*H, HOGAN'S HEROES, SANFORD AND SON, shows like that), as well as writing and art (drawing, image editing, graphic design, etc.), and even though I'm a southern bumpkin, I'm quite a big Canadaphile.

So, that's me.
I stretch like a snake, and I shimmy and shake, and I bounce like a ball, and I say something cute when you give me a squeeze!

Alright, I figured that I might as well introduce myself.

I've been reading this forum for a long time without posting (Well, a long time considering the age of this forum), but I finally made an account not too long ago.

I've been an Arthur fan for a very long time now, so I was very happy to still see an active Arthur community after so many other internet Arthur communities have shut down. This forum, the wiki, and a couple of other sites are the last quality Arthur sites around, after the Yahoo groups and Elwood City Downtown Core stopped being updated by anyone.

In real life, I do TV production and writing for TV and non-TV sources. I am also an aerobatic pilot, coming from a family of pilots. I fly aerobatics in a Decathlon airplane, and I do normal (non-stunt) flying in Cessna airplanes. I also enjoy programming in four different programming languages, video and photo editing in Final Cut, After Effects, and Photoshop, and learning foreign languages.

When I have free time, I also enjoy writing my own screenplays for Arthur. I try to keep them 100% true to the series and make them episode length. If anybody wants to read them, they are in the Fan Creations section of this forum.

On a side note, my favorite Arthur episode is "Arthur's Chicken Pox." I felt like so much happened in a short 11-minute episode, not to mention off the the comedic situations throughout the episode. It was also satisfying to see DW not get more attention than Arthur for once.
