Saying hey! (Hey!)
« on: April 24, 2013, 08:31:57 pm »
Hi everybody, new member here, and I just thought I would introduce myself. I confess that I never actually watched Arthur when I was a kid, but even in my adult years I still love watching cartoons so I thought I'd finally give it a look. I started watching it extensively in November last year and have been a fan of the show ever since. I've been looking for a forum to talk about Arthur and this one seemed like a pretty good one to join.

Hi, ChrisDilke. I'm an adult who likes watching kids' cartoons, too. My favorites were the ones from the '80s and the 90's that aired on the Disney Channel.

Hi, Crossover Dreamer. I really like the Disney Channel cartoons from the 80s and 90s too, especially TaleSpin and DuckTales. My favourite cartoon would have to be The Smurfs, it was my favourite show as a child and still remain a favourite of mine to this day.

Ducktales and TaleSpin were my favorite of the Disney Afternoon/Block Party cartoons. I also liked non-Disney cartoons that were on the Disney Channel liked The Care Bears (Nelvana more than DIC) and My Little Pony Tales (both the fantasy episodes from the 80s and the Mane Seven friendship episodes from the 90s).

I don't remember The Smurfs that much. I've watched it more on Cartoon Network than on Boomerang. Are there any other Hanna-Barbera cartoons you like? I think pretty much all the ones from the 60s to the mid-80s were good, but I'm most familiar with The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

On the subject of other cartoons, I also like (in no particular order):

- ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS
- COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG
- COW AND CHICKEN
- DEXTER'S LABORATORY
- ED, EDD N EDDY
- HEY ARNOLD!
- JOHNNY BRAVO
- RECESS
- ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE
- Rocky and Bullwinkle

To name a few.
I stretch like a snake, and I shimmy and shake, and I bounce like a ball, and I say something cute when you give me a squeeze!

Crossover Dreamer, there are other Hanna-Barbera cartoons I like. I also like The Flintstones, Wacky Races, and Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines. I also enjoyed watching The Snorks when I was a kid, if mostly for the obvious reason that it was like an underwater equivalent of The Smurfs. I haven't watched it in years though. Outside of Hanna-Barbera and Disney cartoons, I also like Thundercats (both the original and 2011 series), Rugrats (never liked "All Grown Up" though), Inspector Gadget and Danger Mouse.

I don't think I ever watched any version of Care Bears, nor any of the original My Little Pony series. I will confess however that I am a brony when it comes to "Friendship is Magic".

I've watched My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic on the Hub, and I'm watching it on Instant Netflix. It's really different from My Little Pony and My Little Pony Tales. MLP is fantasy/drama and MLPT is friendship/drama, while FIM is humor/friendship.

Oh, I like Wacky Races, too, and there's a chance I've seen Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines. Do you remember the live action/animated kids' show Jump, Rattle, and Roll? It was on the Disney Channel, and it was originally called Wake, Rattle, and Roll. Anyway, one of the series of animated shorts they played was "Fender Bender 500." It's similar to Wacky Races, except the only characters from WR are Dick Dastardly and Muttley. The other racers are the Hanna Barbera characters Yogi and Boo-Boo; Huck and Snagglepuss; Waly Gator and Magilla Gorilla; Top Cat and Choo Choo; Quick Draw McGraw and Baba Looey; Pixie and Dixie; Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy; and Winsome Witch with her cat Lucky.

Apparently there are episodes of Wake, Rattle, and Roll on YouTube.

I can't say I've ever heard of "Wake, Rattle and Roll" or "Fender Bender 500". I may consider looking for some episodes of it on YouTube, it sounds interesting. And I remember watching shows like "Yogi's Treasure Hunt" and "Laff-a-Lympics", so from those series I vaguely remember some of the Hanna-Barbera characters you mentioned.
