Arthur on the Web / Re: The NEW FORUM

I visited the forum and saw that you have nothing posted under "Elwood City Central Laws." I'd really like to know what the rules are for the website. Will you please post the rules soon?

Episodes / Re: Arthur's First Sleepover / Arthur's New Year's Eve

There were some things I realized about the scene in "Arthur's First Sleepover" where D.W. asks Brain to take a picture of the alien. First, Brain kept the camera until Arthur gave it back.

Second, a recurring theme for two-of-a-kind sitcom characters is has to do with one of the character's having to either take a picture or have their picture taken.

D.W. and Brain's scenario is similar to when Beaver asked his mother June to pose for a picture in the Leave It to Beaver episode "Forgotten Party" and when Michelle asked Joey to take a picture of the Queen of England in the Full House episode "Taking the Plunge." The part in the Get Smart episode "Pheasant Under Glass" in which Larabee said that Max makes a good picture is more similar to the Beaver and June moment in "Forgotten Party" and the part in the Christmas movie Elf where Buddy said that Deb's picture should be on a Christmas card.

I'm not completely sure, but I think that ABC4Kids in Australia has been playing the episodes in chronological order, and I think that they've played episodes from every season. I live in the U.S., so I haven't been looking at the website's schedule very often.

I said he was a Doug writer. According to IMDb, he wrote "Doug and Patti P.I.," "Doug's Hot Property," and "Doug's Great Beet War." He's also a writer for Martha Speaks.

He wrote "Brother, Can You Spare a Clarinet?", which was on today, and at least 16 other episodes.

Episodes / Re: What's Your Favorite Arthur season?
« on: October 05, 2013, 07:03:27 pm »
I'd say it's a three-way tie for favorites: 1, 4, and 6. Actually, they're the only seasons I like. I'd put 2 in my favorites if it weren't for the episodes where Buster was away.

Here's why I like them so much:

1. Lots of similarities between D.W. and Brain and possible allusions to sitcoms.

2. Very few dream sequences.

3. Many of the episodes have satisfying endings.

4. Lots of funny quotes.

5. Original plots for Arthur.

My least favorites: 5, 8, 10, 12.

Yes. You're thinking of "Hic or Treat" from season 11.

Hi, JAO93! I liked Shining Time Station, too. I miss that show, and many others on PBS. I also got tired of Arthur in 2003, right after TV Land canceled my favorite sitcom Get Smart. In my opinion, there weren't very many good kids' shows, either new or reruns, on then. But I did like Dragon Tales and Clifford the Big Red Dog on PBS; Recess and Disney's Doug on The Disney Channel; and the original Doug on Nick.

Season 5 is one of my least favorite seasons. I do like "Kids are from Earth, Parents Are from Pluto." Especially the intro and the "And Now, A Word from Us Parents" segment.

I think that season 13 is one of the better of the newer seasons.

It's just another sign that the Arthur writers have run out of ideas.

Michael Caloz was my favorite. At first I thought that Michael was a girl, until I saw that all the following D.W voice actors were boys.

I would buy "Arthur's Music Jamboree" just for "Arthur vs. the Piano," "The Big Blow-Up," "Muffy's Soccer Shocker," and "Brother, Can You Spare a Clarinet?" Those are some funny episodes. I'm just glad it doesn't have "Arthur's Not-Real, Almost-Live Music Festival." The DVD with my least favorite episodes is "Hooray for Health."

I like "Phony Fern," "Brain's Shocking Secret," "Baby Kate and the Imaginary Mystery," "Strangers on a Train," "When Carl Met George," and "D.W. Swims with the Fishes." I'm not sure which season 16 episodes I like. I'll have to think about it. I also wish that PBS played the Arthur episodes in chronological order like almost every other TV show.

I totally agree that the execution fell flat and that the story should have been an average day in the life of Arthur.

Episodes / Desert Island Dish
« on: June 24, 2013, 08:48:37 pm »
This episode airs Friday. I have only seen it once because it isn't one of my favorites. One of the reasons I didn't like it was because I was disappointed in the ending. Well, I know that there isn't any one fruit, vegetable, grain, etc. that doesn't provide all the nutrients you need. But if there were characters that thought of junk food, couldn't they have perhaps thought of a meal that had all the food groups like...

1. A salad

2. A pizza

3. Mrs. Powers' ice cream (That one is more of a joke, but I did think of it while watching "Desert Island Dish."

I'm fine with them saying that it's not healthy to eat only one food. It's just that it's frustrating when an Arthur episode emphasizes the extreme negative but then miss an obvious, similar alternative.
