Site News / ALERT: Angry Bear Spotted
« on: February 06, 2014, 01:47:53 am »
I don't want to alarm anyone, but an angry bear has been spotted in the ECC vicinity...and it appears to be on the move.
We project it'll arrive in approximately 6 days to destroy ECC and everyone who hasn't evacuated by then.

A few of us have made the selfless decision to remain at our posts and monitor its movements, so be sure to stay tuned...

In an act of shameless and contemptible self-promotion, behold!

All are welcome!  :)   It's still under construction, and should be even more depressing once we're finished with it.

Books / Open Library - Online Access to Arthur Adventure Books
« on: January 16, 2014, 02:33:50 am »
In case anyone is interested in checking out the early Arthur Adventure books, most of them can be viewed/downloaded for free at http://www.openlibrary.org.
The downside is that the site has a limited number of e-copies of each book that can be checked out at any given time, so titles may not always be available.

Characters / First Appearance Shots
« on: January 14, 2014, 08:47:11 am »
Having recently read through all of the early Arthur books, I've managed to track down the first appearances of most of the characters.  Enjoy!

 Arthur (Arthur's Nose, 1976), Buster (Arthur's Eyes, 1979), Francine (Arthur's Nose, 1976), Fern (Arthur's Eyes, 1979)

Brain - definitely (Arthur Goes to Camp, 1982), Brain - maybe (Arthur's Nose, 1979), Binky (Arthur's April Fool, 1983), Sue Ellen (Arthur's Valentine, 1980)

Muffy (Arthur and the True Francine, 1981), Bailey - maybe (Arthur and the True Francine, 1981), The Crosswires - Chip, Ed, Millicent (Arthur Goes to Camp, 1983), Pal (Arthur's Pet Business, 1990)

 Jenna - maybe (Arthur's Eyes, 1979), Prunella (Arthur's Teacher Trouble, 1986), Alex - maybe (Arthur's Valentine, 1980), Maria - maybe (Arthur's Eyes, 1979)

Ms. MacGrady - probably (Arthur's Chicken Pox, 1994), Mr. Sipple (Arthur's TV Trouble, 1995), Carl Manino (Arthur Writes a Story, 1996), The Tree House (Arthur's Valentine, 1980)

The Reads - Jane, David, D.W. (Arthur's Nose, 1976), The Reads - better detail (Arthur's Nose, 1976), Kate (Arthur's Baby, 1987), The Tibbles (Arthur Babysits, 1992)

Mr. Ratburn (Arthur and the True Francine, 1981), Mr. Haney (Arthur's Eyes, 1979), Ms. Sweetwater (Arthur and the True Francine, 1981), Bitzi Baxter (Arthur's First Sleepover, 1992)

Things have really changed over the years.   ;)

Episodes / The Long, Dull Winter
« on: January 01, 2014, 01:48:10 pm »
This has got to be one of my favorites.  It featured so much goodness in a single fifteen-minute blast:

1.  Francine spontaneously breaking out in song and showing off her impressive, curiously grown-up singing voice for a span of about 40 seconds.
2.  Maria prominently and quite happily playing hopscotch.
3.  The utterly incomprehensible art film that Arthur and Buster walked out on while discussing their plans.  Anybody else catch the 2001 Space Odyssey homage?
4.  Fatass Buster.
5.  And of course...Pooooonyyyy Daaaaaaay...

Ah, happier times.  If only they still made 'em this good.  :'(

I'm still working on touching up her bangs and creating her main school outfit.  More poses and animations coming later! ;D

Model and poses created by me in Poser Pro and 3DS Max with touch-ups in Paint Shop Pro.
Base materials include 3D Universe's Teen Sadie, Littlefox's Gumdrops, Daz3D's Hampton Hair, Kozaburo's Short Bob Hair and Choco's Cutie Bunny for Haru 1.0.

Series Discussion / Guess That Show!
« on: December 20, 2013, 08:08:32 pm »
Can you guess which show I'm talking about?

1.  The main character is pretty much bald and wears a yellow shirt.  His main trait is being quite ordinary.  At one point, he has a crush on a girl who will never love him back.
2.  He has a pet dog who lives in a little world of his own.
3.  His little sister usually wears a pink dress.
4.  His best friend is a little strange and believes in supernatural things.  He's also known to suck his thumb.
5.  One of his best female friends is butch, outgoing, great at sports, assertive, had a crush on him in early episodes, and many of the show's fans suspect her of being a lesbian.
6.  His other main female playmate is stuck-up, condescending, has her own "professional" enterprise, and often talks using stilted adult/business terminology.  She has a delusional crush on a musician.  During Halloween, she dresses up as a witch.
7.  A secondary character is a girl with curly red hair tied up in tails who usually wears yellow and/or a cooler color like blue or purple.
8.  He only has one African-American friend who we know of.
9.  A very special episode deals with cancer.
