Episodes / What Was the Episode...
« on: February 25, 2014, 04:09:47 pm »
Where D.W. misquoted the old Starlight, Starbright poem? It just suddenly popped back into my head today, I remember she said something along the lines of, "Starlight, starbright, the only star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, wish the wish I wish to wish, alright?" Or something like that.

"I am frigh-tened by her excellence!"

"I might as well stick my tongue in a drawer and never blow again!"

Wow. I guess I can see why people are so drawn to Sue Ellen.

I went to an Art Garfunkel concert last night... and wow... I mean wow... he is virtually unrecognizable!

What happened to his antlers?

He had a Q&A at the end of his concert... I really should have asked him about this, lol.

General Discussion / Okay, That's it for Me
« on: January 31, 2014, 11:32:29 am »
I can't do this anymore, I've gotten tired of the whole thing; as someone else pointed out, all that's going on around here anymore is a troll obsessing over Bud taking off his hat, and others feeding him, giving him a reason to still be here and annoy us. I've had enough with the whole thing, personally.

So until Hubert ever returns to straighten things up and we can get back to abnormal around here, I'm going to have to take a much-needed break from this place.

Episodes / Arthur's Snow Biz
« on: January 22, 2014, 05:07:21 pm »
In rewatching, "Arthur's Snow Biz", there's something that bothers me, of which was also an issue Arthur had when and Buster shoveled that one lady's huge circular driveway: the huge cocoa break.

Now, my issue isn't so much that Buster took a huge cocoa break, like Arthur's was, my issue is that the lady only offered Buster a cup of cocoa, and didn't offer Arthur anything. I mean, come on lady, don't you think if you offer one kid some kind of a treat, the other kid isn't going to want one too?

Episodes / Arthur's First Sleepover / Arthur's New Year's Eve
« on: November 27, 2013, 06:16:56 pm »
This is one of those episodes where I really like both entries in the entire half-hour episode.

"Arthur's First Sleepover" is a fun story (I remember the book having a slightly different ending, where apparently D.W. ended up in the paper), and the whole alien scare in town offered a nice little angle for Arthur, Buster, and Brain to be a little nervous about the sleepover (I liked each of their dreams as well)... and of course, D.W. wanting to join in on the fun is very typical little kid stuff... I remember when I was 10, my next door neighbor's little sister (who was half our age) always wanted to tagalong with us and our friends in the neighborhood whenever we'd play (made worse was that she had a crush on me too, lol). It does seem just a LITTLE dated today though, with Arthur wanting to bring a TV in the tent... in this day and age, they'd be wanting to bring their cellphones or tablets or something, lol.

"Arthur's New Year's Eve" is also a very strong and relatable story: when your a kid, one thing you always want to do is stay up late, though you don't always get to (funnily enough, now that I'm grownup and don't have a bedtime, staying up late doesn't feel so special anymore, lol), but especially at New Year's, because you want to see just what exactly happens when the old year ends and the new year begins. Speaking of which, which of the other kids' tales would you like to see? I like each of them, but I think I'd particularly like to see a flash of green light filling the sky as the new year begins, that'd be pretty cool... though I'd imagine an actual wrestling match between an old man and a baby would be hilariously entertaining. The grown-up meeting almost seemed more like a stand-up convention... "I told my kids spinach is good for 'em, but everybody knows we just like to see the funny faces they make when they eat it! Yuck!" Oh, and D.W.'s line about being trapped in a timewarp and never getting any older is priceless... apologies to Joe Fallon and Marc Brown for stealing that joke for one of my videos last year.

Episodes / Vomitrocious!
« on: November 25, 2013, 12:43:28 pm »
I just want to say that I feel very sorry for George in this episode, not necessarily because the other kids were picking on him for being "disgusting", but mainly because nosebleeds in general are no fun... I've been there before, and if it can't be controlled, you know what they do? They literally electrocute in the inside of your nostril. I'm not joking; I had a nosebleeding problem a few years ago, it could be controlled, so my mom took me to this sadistic creep of a doctor, who shoved what was almost like a little cattle prod up my nose and eletrocuted the blood vessels to stop the bleeding... pardon my French, but it HURT LIKE HELL! Probably the most intense, agonizing, excrutiating pain I ever felt in my life. I sure hope George has better luck with his nosebleeds, and it doesn't come to this.

Arthur on the Web / PFB: The Lost Episode

I found this, and thought it was hilarious!

Characters / Buster's Dad
« on: October 04, 2013, 09:59:53 pm »
One thing I've kind of been wondering about Buster's dad, but why exactly was he redesigned for PFB? I remember previously, whenever he saw him, either in imagine spots, old photos, or brief glimpses where we see Buster joining him on one of this trips, he pretty much looked like an adult version of Buster, but for PFB, he looks like a creepy albino man with bunny ears sticking out the top of his head... what was up with that?

Episodes / Arthur's Family Vacation
« on: August 05, 2013, 04:16:54 pm »
One of my favorite early episodes (even did a YouTube Poop on it long ago), but I have to ask, am I the only one who noticed Sharky's expression actually changes throughout the episode? His expression is mostly neutral for the most part, but notice how when Mr. Read is tying back to the roof of the car (after he was in the cow truck) he looks angry, when D.W. slams him on the bed onto of Arthur he looks like he's in pain, later when D.W. crams him into the ridiculously tiny swimming pool he looks so ****ed, and finally when they all go to the movie he looks really happy.

Is that inflatable pool toy possessed or something/  :o

EDIT: Picturrrrrres

Fan Creations / Interesting FanFic
« on: August 02, 2013, 05:27:47 pm »
I got a little bored today, and decided to see if I could find an interesting fanfic to read, preferably where Arthur and the gang are aged up to high school since those stories are always interesting with different character interpretations, and whether or not Ratburn somehow manages to be a high school teacher, and found this:

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8173567/1/High-School-Changes-Everything

It's pretty much about Fern, the character interpretations are interesting, but confusing at times, then again, most of them are just now starting high school and are starting to experience puberty, so that explains a lot.

News / PBS Problems
« on: May 27, 2013, 06:23:08 pm »
Is anyone else besides me having problems with their PBS stations squishing the picture of their programs vertically? I'm getting sick of all these different channels and networks keep messing up their shows, cropping them, recropping them, squishing them horizontally, squishing them vertically... I think they should all just leave the shows alone! If they were originally 4:3, them leave them alone in 4:3; if they were originally 16:9, then leave them alone in 16:9.

News / Season One FINALLY Coming to DVD
« on: April 01, 2013, 12:00:48 pm »
I always thought it was weird that they released Seasons 10 and 11 on DVD, and none of the other seasons, it just really didn't make a whole lot of sense, but I was reading on TVShowsOnDVD.com earlier today, and it looks like Season One may FINALLY be getting a DVD release sometime later this year.

There isn't a whole lot of information at this time, other than the fact that it has been officially announced, though from the sounds of things, this is obviously going to be a bare-bones set with no actual special features, but at least it'll nice to be able to have some good, classic episodes to watch in superior quality compared to YouTube and old tapes.

Episodes / How the Cookie Crumbles
« on: March 27, 2013, 05:26:06 pm »
Has anybody ever actually tried the infamous cookie recipe, just to see what they actually taste like?

Butter batter with a strawberry, banana juice, a peanut, chocolate chips, peach slices, oatmeal, banana, more banana, banana again, and a raisin?

I'm trying hard to imagine what a combination of all those different ingredients would taste like in a cookie.
