Title: Michael Yarmush
Post by: Bionic Bunny on September 07, 2013, 02:29:03 pm
I figured I'd start a topic on Mr.Yarmush here,so here goes.I know he was basically fired from the show after Season 5 because he sounded like a teenager, but I didn't mind it that much, because I thought it was a better voice for Arthur. In fact,if he still sounded like that,I wouldn't mind him coming back to voice Arthur at all! What do you guys think?

He does still work on the show, as the voice of Slink. Though I'm not sure if he's always had that role or if they just gave it to him at some point (too bad for the other guy who voiced the character).

I won't deny the great work Mr. Yarmush did for Arthur's voice in the first 4 seasons, but it just wasn't the same once puberty hit by 2000. That said, I think his voice would have still suit if Arthur wasn't stuck as an eternal 8 year old. Arthur Goes To Highschool? Well, maybe.

I didn't think his original replacement Justin Bradley was that bad - but the problem was his voice was too deep for an 8 year old aardvark. Am surprised they bothered redubbing all the episodes he did, but not Yarmush's Season 5 episodes.

I also saw that Michael Yarmush and Marc Brown guest starred in a 1999 episode of "Mr.Rogers' Neighborhood",#1743 "Go-Stop-Go."
There is also a neat Michael Yarmush interview from 1998,but I forgot the link.Just google "Michael Yarmush."Should be at the bottom of the first page or top of second page.

I also remember that MRN episode. I like how they showed the process of recording each character's voice, and then using the cute Arthur puppet the Neighborhood Of Make-Believe segment.
