Season 18
« on: November 24, 2013, 03:44:08 pm »
Even though Season 18 is a long ways off it still doesn't stop us from talking about it. Judging by what was revealed, it's possible Lydia may return for the next season. Also possible we might see Alex and Maria used looking at what was said at comic-con. Discuss away folks.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of Lydia.  Of course, Maria and Alex stepping into the spotlight would truly be a landmark event in Arthur history.  What will be interesting is how they're used and whether or not they'll be distinctly unique from the other kids.  Given the large number of characters already in the group, it would take some work to shape them into characters who aren't redundant of existing cast members.

While I'm sure anyone can see Maria naturally being a shy and soft-spoken type, this is sort of Fern's territory.  As for Alex, he's just as much of an unknown quantity.  Of course, my theory all along has been that they're both just the result of Arthur's glasses being a touch out of focus...

What about George? According to the modelsheet, he didn't even have a name at first (he was labelled "Moose").

Jenna also had some spotlight from seasons 4-9.

Maria talks plenty with Alex. She seems to be friends with other background characters, so maybe she's only shy around Arthur's friends.

As for Alex, he's just as much of an unknown quantity.
We've seen him jump off the bus steps roaring like a T-Rex in "Buster's Dino Dilemma". He had the second lowest score in the student-of-the-month chart in "MacFrensky". He has also demonstrated other trouble-maker qualities. He's also camera-shy.

I've always wondered what the relationship is between Alex and Maria. Like what do these two have in common that's different from every other kid at school, especially in their class.

Yeah, I do hope at least Maria becomes as interesting and prominent as they've managed to make George.  Something about her design already makes me like her.  Her tallness, soggy socks and cropped hairdo all come together wonderfully.  I really like the few shots of her with glasses, too.

I think there was also a scene of him throwing a paper ball at someone.  He seems to have his hands in his pockets a lot, too.

I could picture him being a practical joker whose pranks maybe go too far sometimes.  Someone who likes to set people up for humiliation, then stand aside in the shadows and laugh at them without them ever figuring out he had anything to do with it.

I think the show could use a new villain, now that the Tough Customers are not-so-tough and Molly has been mollified.

I don't know if there will be an episode where The Tibble Twins steals Bud's hat.

I can't really see Alex being a new bully in the show. What would Maria think? :P It was stated that Alex is shy, so they could use that in some way.

Dude shut up about that! You've been asking that dumb question on Facebook for months now and essentially you spammed the Arthur Facebook with those stupid questions. That's why you ended up getting banned from Facebook. That's right folks somehow this kid got banned from Facebook out of all places.

Bud must be a Kappa.  The hat keeps his watery brains from spilling out all over the pavement. ;)

If they ever did make Bud without his hat, that means 9 Story will have to make a BRAND NEW animation model! Imagine how difficult that would be! ::)
