*Temporarily breaking out of character again for a moment*
So I finally got to see all of "Kidonia" today, and it was mostly good (and I see Tolon Brown co-wrote it), even if it was rather cliched: kids forming their own country (or their own city, or setting off on their own) all mainly as a means to get away from chores and rules among other things, it's been done before. I did like how Brain actually made up his own Kidonia-exclusive money (IIRC, I think there's an actual city here in the U.S. that has its own currency since the American dollar is virtually worthless nowadays, but it's only redeemable in that city) and Buster tried to use it to actually buy things. I'm not at all surprised that one by one, everyone started to leave Kidonia when they realized their own Constitution basically inconvenienced them (that or they just simply didn't agree on everything). I kind of think the episode had a Downer Ending though: nothing was really resolved, and we don't see how Arthur, Buster, Francine, or Brain worked things out afterwards, we just basically see Arthur return home, dejectedly (and D.W. now Head of Security at the Read house).
I think it would have been interesting (albiet still cliched) if other kids became Kidonia citizens, aside from just Arthur, Buster, Francine, and Brain: I'm sure Muffy would weasel her way into taking control of some position of authority, and I know Binky would just simply become a citizen for the sake of joining in on whatever's going on.
