Season 16's hatred
« on: October 19, 2012, 12:08:05 am »
From what I have seen. Long time Arthur fans are extremely angry with 9 Story for ruining the show. If you look on Facebook, YouTube, and everywhere else. People are bashing and hating Season 16 with a passion. Some people have even started petitions to get the old animation back. If you look up the Season 16 videos they have all dislikes. People in the comments are heavily criticizing the animation and the overall look of the show now. People on Facebook are just raging with hate towards it. People in general are really upset with 9 Story's Arthur. Maybe it's for the best if the show gets canceled? That is what everyone is hoping for.

Also note that all this hate is NOT coming from me only. Or Trolls, or Angry Fanboys who love to rage towards things.

There is an old saying around here. It's called "That's Progress".

There is an old saying around here. It's called "That's Progress". Oh and Yoshi I remembered something. Before the first previews to Season 16 came out weren't you the same guy that attacked Seasons 12-15 for the way the animation was? Now Season 16 airs and you all of the sudden say Seasons 12-15 has better animation? That sir makes you a hypocrite.

CJ I mean that the animation is so bad that I makes Seasons 12-15 look good. Colgate you need to stop following me. That's creepy. Colgate if you think I created multiple accounts to bash Season 16. Your dead wrong. Everyone on the internet hates it. Not just me only. So shut up. You guys just can't accept that Season 16 is hated with a passion by multiple people.

If the show HAS to be Flash animated now, then I mean, they could do a LOT better job on it, as opposed to relying heavily on motion tweens, shortcuts, and transformations... believe me, I've dabbled in Flash animation before (look up BUN: Defender of the Bunny People on YouTube), so I've seen a lot of examples used in my Flash classes in high school, so I've seen some really good examples, and some rather poorer examples... and if they were to use Season 16 of Arthur as an example, I'd say it's a poorer one.

But MC CJ is right, the unfortunate truth is, "That's progress"... it's like all movies just HAVE to be shot digitally as opposed to 35mm film (which even Martin Scorsese says needs to happen again), or in "Eye-Popping 3D" (because apparently somebody died and made James Cameron god of filmmaking and he says he wants all new movies to be 3D). High definition doesn't even exist... all it is is a picture cropped in widescreen.

The funny thing Yoshi is that I never told you I suspected that you were socking, I told the user whom I thought was your sockpuppet.

Okay, all these inter-office politics aside, I don't think Season 16's hatred is really justifiable.

I mean, no, the animation is not fluid or anything like Cinar/Cookie Jar, but at least 9 Story is making an attempt to replicate the entire style of Arthur, both in the character designs, and the overall production design (backgrounds) and such... this isn't bad, considering that other cartoon series that have switched production companies have been changed COMPLETELY... case in point: Dexter's Lab. After Dexter finishe its initial run, Cartoon Network renewed it, but creator Genndy Tartakovski was working on other projects at the time and couldn't do anymore Dexter, so it was given to someone else to do, who changed everything: the way the characters look, the style of the show, and even the character's backstory (they completely changed how Dexter and Mandark met, and even made him "evil" because of an oppressed childhood at the hands of his hippie parents). Similar with The Chipmunks, they went through three different animation companies, the last seasons of the show, the animation was very off-model and simplistic as well as the style of the show.

So, all things considered, I really don't think 9 Story deserves a whole lot of hate, because hey, it could be worse.

This dislike to Season 16 is useless. I bet nothing is going to happen as this beef will only go so far. By the way if anyone wants to see bad animation look at this.

Regarding this thread, it is fine to have around and I will keep it open and allow it as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

HOWEVER, if anyone does begin starting arguments and making hateful comments to other users on here, know that those posts will be deleted without prejudice.

You know, this whole "Season 16 hatred" could very well be because, let's face it, Arthur has worn out it's welcome: it is now the second-longest running animated series behind The Simpsons, and people are definitely tired of the new Simpsons episodes, they're ready for that show to end. Same with Family Guy, people are tired of it, and want it to end (even Seth MacFarlane wants it to end). People are probably tired of Arthur and want it to end as well.

I mean, in my personal opinion, they've taken this show even farther than it could go, most of the stories anymore are either pretty weak, or in some cases repetitive (case in point, we've had two plots involving D.W. having a hard time getting rid of her hiccups, and now we've had two occasions where the kids put together a mock trial... maybe even three times if an Imagine Spot counts). It's kind of a common acceptance that when a series starts to repeat storylines, then that's a clear sign it's gone on too long.

I have to admit I thought the new animation was a bit distracting as well. But I sort of got used to it by weeks end. As for the episodes themselves, I don't think they were that bad. I mean, none that I would rank as "worst ever". None were great, at the worst they were pointless. I seriously want to know who thought it would be a great idea to make an episode about DW and Emily building blocks would be a good idea for an 11 minute episode. If that doesn't cough up "out of ideas" nothing does.

I myself actually liked "Blockheads," probably in a way because I can somehow relate to it as a child, being so set on one certain toy that you created that you want to keep adding to that eventually becomes boring yet you still feel like you are obligated to it.
