Arthur: the roleplay!
Ladonna Compson:
Hey guys! This is just a planning thread, if we end up actually DOING the roleplay, I will make a new thread for that purpose. I put this in "games" because I didn't notice a roleplay section. Anyway, onto the fine print:
ARTHUR HIGHSCHOOL ROLEPLAY!
If any of you don't know how to do a roleplay, you put down actions that you (or your OC.) does in a set environment. (for instance:
*waves at d.w.* and then whoever is put in charge of D.W. might "say" back: *screams at -whatever your oc is-* MOOOM!- so, anything enclosed in stars is an action, and anything that is not is what your OC is saying. Make sure to put the name of your character at the top of your post.)
Certain people will be given the responsibility to "role play" certain Arthur characters like Mr. Ratburn. If they are given this privilege, they must treat it with respect. Do not make Nigel Ratburn do something Nigel Ratburn doesn't do. Dont make Brain a jerk. etc. You can either play an actual Arthur character, or make an OC (original character). If you make an OC, I have a link to a PBS kids site where you can make an OC in the style of the (new) Arthur animation at the end of this post.
THE RULES ARE: No swearing, no pervs, and try to keep it moderately real. You can do some light swearing, (and it doesn't really matter, because our language block blocks it all anyway.) but try not to go on a swearing spam mode. No pervs means no sex (you can have passionate kisses and like, but nothing beyond that.), and no incestuous, homosexual, etc. relatonships. If you support these types of relationships, I understand, but this is my roleplay, and I would rather keep it to (or at least close to) the innocence of the actual show. Keep it real: if you have a robot battle, think of how it would logically happen in the show, (Brain would probably build it.)
The setting of the role play will be in Elwood city, in the Elwood City Highschool (I am open to better name ideas.). Until "Mr. Ratburn" rings the bell, you must role play in the school. If you dislike the idea of a Highschool roleplay, then we can negotiate. However, I think a Highschool time period would be more enjoyable than having them as eight year olds, however that is up to you, as we will discuss it in this thread.
Any questions, suggestions or suggested modifications? I'm open to them. that is what this thread is for. I haven't done this sort of thing before, so I am open to any advice from more experienced role players. I want everyone to enjoy the roleplay, so speak up if you have anything to add.
If you want to roleplay a certain Arthur character, or play an OC, the format is given below. If you are playing one of the main cast that are currently children in the show, they will have changed slightly if they are in Highschool, or middle school in DW's case, and you can submit their updated personality profiles. Whichever character submission for a certain main character I like the best, the person who submitted it will be called on to play the character. If you make an OC, they will need to be approved for the roleplay as well.
CHARACTER SUBMISSION FORMAT:
(you only need to use the capitalized parts for your character format.)
NAME:
ROLE: are they a teacher in highschool, a highschooler, etc.
AGE: based on previous question. if they are in highschool, however, keep their ages to 14, 15, or 16.
GENDER:
BACKSTORY: family situation and the like.
PERSONALITY:
APPEARANCE:if you dont want to use the character creator, then an old fashioned looks critique will do.

A Lotta Moms:
Sure, sounds like fun!
NAME: D.W. Read
ROLE: Middle School Student
AGE: 12 years old
GENDER: Female
BACKSTORY: Middle child of the Read household, as we all know.
PERSONALITY: While she's grown up a little, D.W. is still as eccentric and annoying as she was at age 5. She insists on being the center of attention and involved in everything other people are doing, but at the same time, starts to freak out if anyone does even the slightest thing that annoys her or disturbs anything she's working on. This includes looking at her, asking her questions, or talking about anything she isn't interested in at the moment. Slightly obsessive-compulsive, D.W. has to have everything in her life just the way she wants it, in perfect order. Everything must be equal and well-balanced. She's very assertive and won't hesitate to confront people or start a campaign to change things she doesn't agree with, but her short attention span results in her rarely achieving her goals before becoming obsessed with something else. Due to her difficult personality, she's isolated herself from most of her early childhood friends over the years. As a result, she spends most of her time following around Arthur and his older friends, and, much to their annoyance, imagining that she's part of their clique.
APPEARANCE:
"MOOOOOOM, PEOPLE ARE PLAYING AS ME!!!"
Ladonna Compson:
thats great! ;D hopefully the rest of the kids will join in, roleplays are best when played. well, we'll see what comes of it.
A Lotta Moms:
I also hope more folks sign up. As much as I'm sure D.W. would like to have the whole game to herself, I'm sure it wouldn't be much fun with only Nadine cheering her on. ;)
I'm actually surprised that the Arthur community is so small, given that it's the second-longest running (and best, imho) animated series ever.
Ladonna Compson:
IKR? I feel a little ashamed of the aardvark community, we are as vast as the bronies, are we not? (aardvarks: my personal name for Arthur fans.)
