Have they ever done an episode where one of the kids develops a crush on an older person? I know it's been done to death on kiddy shows, but I can see a scenario where Lakewood hires a pretty, nice, makes learning fun, new teacher (probably just a substitute teacher), whom Arthur, or one of the other boys (maybe Buster perhaps) develops a massive crush on.
I stretch like a snake, and I shimmy and shake, and I bounce like a ball, and I say something cute when you give me a squeeze!

This is pretty cool on the part of the producers. Maybe my dreams will finally come true and one of my screenplays will become an actual episode! (At least, I can dream about it.)

They did this in season 6, the episode was "Crushed." Arthur had a crush on his babysitter, but they really beat around the bush with the idea that he had a crush on her, and it was more implied than anything. I think it could do with a revisit.

I'm surprised they waited this long to have a story contest. I don't think they should have people post entries on Facebook, though. Emails or private messages are fine. And even though many Arthur fans are adults, I think that they should stick with a maximum age of 11 or 12. Many of the entries they have posted are inappropriate.

I agree totally, I think that the Facebook page managers will be rolling their eyes as they read most of them. The worst part is that the obscene ones are getting quite a few likes.

This is pretty surprising that they would do this. Hope to see what idea comes out of this.

Oh how I would love to give a suggestion for a future episode. Problem is, I have no idea what to suggest. Arthur is one of those shows where if asked, I would know perhaps immediately which character(s) I would want my episode to focus on, but I'd have no idea what the episode would be about. Hopefully I'll think of something and suggest it to them on Facebook, as from what I've read on there, they seem to be lacking in appropriate ideas. It's a bit disappointing that an opportunity like this has come along and most of the page's "fans" seem to be treating it like a joke, but it's good to see that there are at least some who are taking it seriously.

I don't know if anyone has realized this or not, but this event pretty much strengthens the idea that there will be a Season 18 and Season 19 during the 2014-2015 year. It's not like these are going to appear in Season 17 as Season 17 is already set in stone and has already aired in Australia.

I know there very few fans of Pal & Kate episodes, but I've always thought it would be fun to do a remake of Season 1's "Arthur's Lost Dog". Instead of focusing on the fact that Pal is "lost", it would be interesting to see this episode told from a Pal and Kate perspective. We already know that Pal understands that Kate just wants a free balloon from Pickles the Clown, and it seems like this story could easily be recreated in this way. Whenever I see that episode as it is now, I always think about this. Seems like a good idea to me... But that's just me  ;)

Yay for season 17+!

ARTHUR SEASON 18????!!!!!! Yes! I want it! I think that link is proof enough, so I added it to the wiki.

I'm thinking of ideas to tell the facebook page.

I already threw my two cents at an idea for an episode. Mine was to suggest using Alex and Maria. Turns out buried under all of those posts I'm not the only one to suggest it.  ;) Hopefully seeing more support may give them the idea to use those two.

Here are the ideas I posted (under my real name):

This one is my favorite:
"Mr. Ratburn goes off work for a month or so, and the class is really excited because they think he is mean. The substitute is a really nice person who gives no homework and extra recess. Somehow Mr. Ratburn overhears the class raving about the new teacher, and his feelings are hurt. He resigns, and the nice teacher takes his spot permanantley. But the teacher's niceness starts to get annoying, and Brain complains that they don't get to actually LEARN anything will all the surprise parties and games! They realize that even though Mr. Ratburn is tough at times, they all still like him as their teacher. They "learn" that too much of a good thing is a bad thing, and that adults have feelings, too." (I also replied to my own post, saying it could be called "When You Give a Rat an Off Day".

I kinda like this one...kinda:
"Jenna (I want to include her because she has totally disappeared from the show! P.S. bring her back!) and Francine get into some kind of sports competition to see who is the REAL best athlete at Lakewood, and everyone is chanting them on, but Francine and Jenna are really tiered, but they don't show it. They finally agree to both forfeight and the other kids realized they were too enthusiastic (like in "A is for Angry"). I don't really like this idea, I just want Jenna to have an episode."

There's a Clifford episode exactly like this, I just was wondering what the respone would be:
"One of the main characters is moving away (maybe George or Fern; not someone TOO important) and everyone tries to give the best last day in Elwood City, and then the realize it was all a misunderstanding (I don't know how, just somehow)."

I've had a couple of more thoughts, though they too are very cliche, and have been done to death.

Both involve Mr. Ratburn.

1. Elwood City is about to hand out its annual, coveted Teacher of the Year award, something that Ratburn has desperately been wanting for years, but always loses out to another teacher for various different reasons (well-behaved class, least amount of student tardies, teaching methods, class engagement, etc.), so Arthur and gang decide they want to do whatever they can to help Ratburn win this year, because he's becoming really obsessive about wanting to win it, and it's driving the kids crazy.

2. Someone actually comes into Ratburn's life. Definitely a one-shot characters. Many fans have this belief that Ratburn's in the closet, so maybe if he were to cross paths with a charming, intelligent, yet tough and ambitious woman who seems like his equal (like a new replacement teacher or someone), which may cause him to act strangely, thus making the kids worried about (I think WISHBONE did an episode that's kind of like what I'm talking about).
