Never, Never, Never
« on: April 21, 2013, 05:26:59 pm »
I recently found out that, apparently, this episode is supposed to be a parody/reference to the Shakespeare play King Lear...someone gives away all of something to see who truly loves him/her.

I haven't read this particular Shakespeare play (only A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo & Juliet, and Hamlet)...but I was wondering if you noticed similarities.

I was wondering why in the world the title was "Never, Never, Never"...it seemed sort of random, but are these three words also mentioned prominently in King Lear?

King Lear? That's awfully random, and it's not as well known as Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, or Hamlet. I don't know anything about King Lear. Can you give any more examples of similarities? Oh, and I've only seen "Never, Never, Never" once. Season 12 wasn't one of my favorite seasons.

There was a parody of MacBeth. I believe it was called MacFrensky. Buster also had a yam called Yamlet and did that skull holding speech holding up his using the yam which is a Hamlet thing. The skull was from poor Yorik in Shakespeare so it's kind of mixed up but it seemed to work well at the time.
