Nadine has a last name!

A Season 16 Arthur episode recently gave Nadine (D.W.'s Imaginary Friend) a last name finally - Flumbergast!

I thought it was funny when D.W. said that even she didn't know what Nadine's last name was.

Well, you know little kids. I guess sometimes they like to pretend as if they just learned something, when it was really their creativity that helped them make it up on the spot.

It's rather surprising that it's taken us some 16 years to finally find out her last name.

I never really thought about her last name. I guess I always thought that it would be "Read," just like D.W. However, now that I think about it, Nadine is an imaginary friend, so that might not make much sense.

The fact that we don't know Emily's last name was referenced in "D.W.Swims with the Fishes". When Emily won the race, Buster said that the winner was "EMILY!!...whose last name I don't know!"

Kinda like that episode of ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE, where Rocko was nominated for an award, and among the list of nominees, he was announced as, "and Rocko... no last name given".

(Though apparently creator Joe Murray says Rocko's last name was Rama").

They've kind of made the lack of Emily's last name a running gag, starting in "DW Flips", her debut, when the announcers in DW's fantasy don't know her last name, and the aforementioned example from Buster.

D.W. probably never created Nadine's last name until "Read and Flumberghast". She just acted like Nadine had simply never told her her last name. (rolls eyes) 4 year olds...
