She seems... interesting, to say the least...

My question is this though: is she going to be a one-shot character for this episode only, or is she going to end up being a semi-regular fixture much in the same way the Molinas and other newer characters have?

A lot of people talk like Ladonna around here. You get use to it afterward. Trust me on that one.

Looking at how Ladonna moved into what appears to be Arthur's neighborhood she and the Compson family will possibly end up just like the Molinas. Being used here and there in series or whenever an episode/episodes guarantees the need for them to be used again.

I'm not going to be able to stand her voice.

The accent isn't what is going to bug me. It's just the way her voice itself sounds...but if she is going to be a recurring character I'll probably get used to it. (Provided I continue watching the show...I have no idea what station PBS even is on campus)
Buster: "Hey fresh dudes, mind if we chill your crib?"
Slink: "WHAT?!?"
Buster: "Me and my homefry here wanna be in your possum, I mean, posse!"
Toby: "What's he trying to say?"

Same with me...when I said about not standing her voice, I wasn't speaking of her accent, but rather the tone of her voice and stuff...it just gets to me for some reason.

Don't worry, you'll get use to it. ;)

She's nice, voiced by Krystal Meadows, cross her heart!

I really like Ladonna.  I think they've managed to build her into a good character in a very short period of time.  In just one episode, you really get a good idea of her virtues, flaws, quirks, emotions, etc.  Her loud and slightly obnoxious Southern Gal nature should serve as a good source of fun in the future.

As we've seen with George and Fern, seemingly insignificant/new characters can have a way of becoming more popular than even central characters if they're developed properly.  I anticipate -and hope- that this is the case with Ladonna.  It seem to be the direction the producers are trying to take her.

By contrast, new characters who just sort of fall by the wayside and get forgotten have been generally uninteresting, or lacked traits to distinguish them from the main cast.  Mei-Lin or the Molinas, for instance.  They lack any real dynamic.  Nothing about them is particularly sympathetic, amusing, endearing, etc.  They're just there as tokens to represent other culture, it seems.  The only good thing that came out of them was a "grody" soccer ball...  :-\
